About Wethersfield
What it's like to live here
Wethersfield is a Hartford County town of about 27,200 people directly south of Hartford along the Connecticut River. Interstate 91 runs through town, so downtown Hartford is about 10 minutes away, and Route 3 crosses the river to Glastonbury. Neighborhoods range from colonial homes in the old village to early 1900s streets and mid-century subdivisions, with the Silas Deane Highway as the main shopping corridor.
Settled in 1634, Wethersfield is one of Connecticut's three oldest English towns, represented by a grapevine on the state flag. In May 1781 George Washington and the Comte de Rochambeau met at the Webb House on Main Street to plan the Siege of Yorktown. The town was famous for its red onions and seed trade, and Comstock, Ferre & Co. was founded here in 1820. Old Wethersfield, listed on the National Register in 1970, is the largest historic district in the state.
Our Glastonbury office at 59 Sycamore Street is about 10 minutes away across the river on Route 3. Our agents live and sell here.
