About Tolland

What it's like to live here

Tolland is a Tolland County town of about 14,700 people on I-84 between Vernon and Willington. The interstate puts downtown Hartford about 25 minutes west, and Route 195 runs south to UConn in Storrs. Away from the highway the town stays wooded and rural, with two state forests, town parks and conservation land between its neighborhoods.

Tolland was named in 1715 and incorporated in 1722, and it served as the county seat. The 1822 Old Tolland County Courthouse on the Green held court until 1890, when the courts moved to Rockville, and the county jail across the street held prisoners from 1856 to 1968. Both are now museums run by the Tolland Historical Society, and the long, narrow Tolland Green is a National Register historic district.

Our Glastonbury office at 59 Sycamore Street is about 30 minutes from Tolland Green. Our agents live and sell here.
