About Rocky Hill
What it's like to live here
Rocky Hill is a Hartford County town of about 21,500 people on the west bank of the Connecticut River, between Wethersfield and Cromwell. Interstate 91 runs through town with exits at Route 3 and Route 99, so downtown Hartford is about 15 minutes north, and Route 3 crosses the river to Glastonbury. It is a busy, convenient suburb with single-family neighborhoods, condominium communities and a long stretch of riverfront.
Europeans began settling here in 1650 as part of Wethersfield, and the area became Stepney Parish in 1722 before incorporating as its own town in 1843. Its river landing made it a port and shipbuilding center, and the ferry to Glastonbury has run since 1655. In 1966 a bulldozer operator uncovered dinosaur tracks while digging for a state building, and the site became Dinosaur State Park and a National Natural Landmark. The town takes its name from the ridge that is now Quarry Park.
Our Glastonbury office at 59 Sycamore Street is about 15 minutes away across the river, and our Middletown office at 32 Washington Street is about 15 minutes south. Our agents live and sell here.
