About Old Saybrook

What it's like to live here

Old Saybrook is a Middlesex County town of about 10,700 people where the Connecticut River meets Long Island Sound. Interstate 95 and Route 9 meet in town, and Old Saybrook station has Amtrak Northeast Regional trains plus Shore Line East commuter service toward New Haven and New London. Downtown Middletown is about 35 minutes up Route 9, and a wide, walkable Main Street runs through the center of town.

English settlers seized Saybrook Point in November 1635 and built Fort Saybrook, the earliest fort in the Connecticut Colony, which makes Old Saybrook the oldest town on the Shoreline. The Collegiate School, later Yale University, was chartered here in 1701, and the seal of the Saybrook Colony inspired the Connecticut state flag. North Cove served as a busy port until the railroad filled its mouth in 1871, and Katharine Hepburn made her lifelong home in the borough of Fenwick.

Our Middletown office at 32 Washington Street is about 35 minutes up Route 9, and our headquarters is at 40 West High Street in East Hampton. Our agents live and sell here.
