A Route 2 town built around Lake Terramuggus, about 20 minutes from Hartford.

About Marlborough

What it's like to live here

Marlborough is a Hartford County town of about 6,200 people where Glastonbury, East Hampton, Colchester and Hebron meet. Route 2 cuts through town with three exits, so downtown Hartford is about 16 miles, roughly 20 minutes, away. The town center sits beside Lake Terramuggus, and much of the rest is wooded, with sections of Meshomasic and Salmon River state forests inside its borders.

Travelers have stopped here since 1648, when Sadler's Ordinary opened as a rest stop on the colonial road. The Marlborough Tavern, built about 1760 by Colonel Elisha Buell, was a busy stagecoach stop between Hartford and New London and reopened as a restaurant in 2018. Marlborough was incorporated in 1803 from parts of Glastonbury, Colchester and Hebron, had only about 300 residents in 1910, and grew once Route 2 made it an easy commute to Hartford.

Our East Hampton headquarters at 40 West High Street is about 5 miles away on Route 66, and our Glastonbury office at 59 Sycamore Street and Colchester office at 392 South Main Street are each about 10 miles away. Our agents live and sell here.
