About Bozrah

What it's like to live here

Bozrah is a New London County town of about 2,400 people on 20 square miles of farmland, woods and river valley just west of Norwich. Route 2 runs through town, so downtown Norwich is about 10 minutes away, Mohegan Sun is about 18 minutes, and Hartford is about 45. Gardner Lake fills the southwest corner, and the Yantic River runs through the villages of Fitchville and Bozrahville.

Bozrah began as part of Norwich's original nine-miles-square, became its own parish called New Concord in 1737, and was incorporated as Bozrah in 1786. Local legend says the name came from the Book of Isaiah's line about dyed garments from Bozrah, after a colorfully dressed delegate appeared before the General Assembly. Cotton mills grew up along the Yantic River, and the Palmer Brothers mills in Fitchville served the town for about a century. Today the river is a favorite with fly fishermen.

Our Colchester office at 392 South Main Street is about 9 miles west of Fitchville, roughly 12 minutes on Route 2. Our agents live and sell here.
