About Andover

What it's like to live here

Andover is a Tolland County town of about 3,100 people on roughly 16 square miles of woods, brooks and farmland east of Manchester. US Route 6 runs straight through town, putting Manchester about 20 minutes away and downtown Hartford about 30, while Willimantic is about 15 minutes east. Homes sit on wooded lots and around Andover Lake, and the Hop River Trail crosses the whole town.

Andover began as a Congregational parish in the 1740s, drawing families from Hebron, Coventry and Lebanon, and was incorporated as a town in 1848 from parts of Hebron and Coventry. In 1781 Rochambeau's French army marched through along today's Route 6 and Hutchinson Road, and French officers stayed at White's Tavern, built in 1773. The Andover Center Historic District, listed on the National Register in 2003, includes the 1833 First Congregational Church and the old town hall, now the Museum of Andover History. Andover Lake was created in 1927.

Our Colchester office at 392 South Main Street is about 13 miles south, roughly 25 minutes. Our agents live and sell here.
